The Washington Post had an interesting article about the Obama administration’s “drone war” and the high level of secrecy that surrounds killings with the automated weapons.
We recently asked Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, how she could be sure that the United States’ drone missions are justified.
Here’s what she said in a November interview with Civil Beat:
“I think the decision on using drones and when it’s appropriate is purely a military decision. Whether or not it’s something that we should expend monies to develop, what we are going to weigh is the use of the drones versus human life. As long as we are sending our men and women in uniform to the front, if a drone can make it safer for them, I would not necessarily object to that.”
